ABOUT THE JOB 

This is not a role for someone who closes the books and calls it a month. At Korpack, we're looking for a Controller who treats the close as a product with a shipping date, costing as the source of truth the whole company runs on, and manual processes as problems to be automated out of existence. Korpack is a food-grade (SQF) co-packer for leading consumer brands — doubling into 350,000 sq ft, running high-mix production where scrap varies, weights convert to quantities, and margin lives or dies on BOM and routing accuracy in Acumatica. 

Our CFO is building the financial engine that scales this company, and this seat is its foundation: accurate, fast, GAAP-compliant financials; costing the leadership team never has to second-guess; and controls that make growth safe. THE JOURNEY 

1. Own the Monthly Close 

• Cut close time to 6 business days — accurate, GAAP-compliant, every month. The close has an owner now: you. 

2. Own Costing & Inventory Valuation 

• Reliable COGS and margin data through BOM and routing accuracy in Acumatica, with variance analysis that explains — not just reports — what moved. 
• Our world includes catch-weight conversions, reason-coded scrap, and per-work-order costing for brand customers. Costing here is a craft, not a rollforward. 

3. Build Internal Controls & Scalable Process 

• Documented procedures, segregation of duties, audit-readiness — the control environment of the company Korpack is becoming, built inside the company it is today. 

4. Develop the Team 

• Manage and grow a Senior Accountant and an Intern from day one — rigor, ownership, and a bench that scales with the function. 

5. Support the CFO 

• Reporting, forecasting, cash flow visibility, and budget-to-actual analysis that make leadership faster — the CFO's analytical partner, not a report generator.

THE REQUIREMENTS 

Required 

• Hands-on manufacturing cost accounting experience — standard costs, BOMs, routings, variances — not just general accounting at a manufacturing company 
• A proven track record OWNING monthly close (not participating in it), with a history of shortening close timelines you can walk us through 
• Strong ERP implementation/optimization background (NetSuite, Sage, Epicor, or similar — we run Acumatica) 
• Fluency and comfort with AI tools and automation — you question manual processes by reflex and use technology to work smarter, not just harder. We use AI daily at Korpack and expect you to 
• People management and mentorship experience — you'll supervise a Senior Accountant and an Intern from day one 

Preferred 

• CPA, CMA, and/or MBA 

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Bloomingdale, IL.

Yukon Exploration Operating, LLC (“Yukon”) is a Dallas-based oil and natural gas exploration and production company focused on the Midland Basin of West Texas. Founded in 2019, Yukon’s principal business is the exploration, development, and production of crude oil and natural gas through horizontal and vertical operations.

Yukon is active across the Northern Midland Basin, with a focus on Borden, Dawson, Martin, and Howard Counties. Your Mission

We’re seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting function for Yukon Exploration Operating. This individual will serve as the senior accounting leader for the business, owning financial reporting, GAAP compliance, controls, forecasting support, and financial obligations to our equity and debt stakeholders.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows oil and gas accounting deeply, operates independently, and can build the processes and discipline necessary to support a rapidly growing operator. You’ll work directly with senior leadership and have the opportunity to shape the accounting function as Yukon scales, making this an exceptional opportunity for an experienced oil and gas accounting professional who wants significant ownership, visibility, and impact.

Key Responsibilities — What You’ll Own

• Lead Yukon’s accounting function, taking end-to-end ownership of accounting operations, close processes, financial reporting, and the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and oil and gas accounting requirements, maintaining appropriate accounting policies, procedures, documentation, and internal controls as the business grows.
• Own financial reporting and compliance obligations associated with Yukon’s equity stakeholders, lenders, debt agreements, and other financial counterparties, ensuring all reporting requirements and deadlines are consistently met.
• Oversee core oil and gas accounting activities, including revenue accounting, joint interest billing, accounts payable, capital expenditures, lease operating expenses, accruals, reserves-related accounting support, and other upstream accounting processes.
• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, continuously improving the speed, accuracy, controls, and scalability of the close and reporting environment.
• Manage external audits, tax and accounting service providers, and other third-party financial relationships, serving as the primary accounting point of contact and ensuring requests and deliverables are handled efficiently.
• Partner with leadership on forecasting, planning, and financial decision-making, proactively identifying accounting or financial issues, communicating risks early, and recommending practical solutions rather than simply identifying problems.

Qualifications — What You Bring

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful experience within an oil and gas exploration and production operator.
• Deep understanding of upstream oil and gas accounting, financial reporting, U.S. GAAP, and financial and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead an accounting function or significant portions of an oil and gas operator’s accounting organization.
• Strong command of financial close, financial statements, reconciliations, internal controls, audit support, and management reporting.
• Experience supporting financial reporting and compliance requirements associated with lenders, debt facilities, investors, or equity stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and forecasting capabilities with the ability to identify issues before they become problems and recommend actionable solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex accounting matters clearly and promptly to senior leadership.
• A self-directed, high-ownership working style with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications — What Sets You Apart

• CPA designation.
• Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior accounting leadership experience with an upstream oil and gas operator.
• Prior audit experience with a highly reputable public accounting firm, particularly within an oil and gas or energy-focused audit practice.
• Experience progressing from public accounting into an operating role within an exploration and production company.
• Experience building or scaling accounting processes, controls, systems, and reporting infrastructure within a growing oil and gas business.
• Familiarity with accounting and reporting requirements across both operated and non-operated oil and gas assets.
